Tips on taking care of your succulents

Succulents are the cool cats of the plant world—low-maintenance, cute, and surprisingly resilient. But even these desert darlings need a little love to stay happy on your windowsill. Whether you just crafted a cute succulent planter at one of our events (yay!) or picked up a few for your space, here are a few easy tips to keep them thriving:

1. Let There Be Light ☀️

Succulents love sunlight! Place them near a bright window where they can soak up at least 4–6 hours of light a day. If they start stretching tall and skinny, that’s their way of saying, “More sun, please!”

2. Don’t Overwater 🚫💦

This is where most succulent friendships go sour. These plants store water in their leaves, so they don’t need much. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again—usually once every 2–3 weeks. When you do water, give it a good soak and let any extra drain out.

3. Drainage is Key 🪴

Make sure your pot has a drainage hole, or use a layer of rocks at the bottom if it doesn’t. Succulents don’t like sitting in soggy soil—it’s root rot city!

4. Keep It Cozy

Succulents prefer warmer temps (between 60–80°F). They can survive cooler weather, but frost is a no-go. If they’re living outside and temps drop, bring them inside to chill (literally, not figuratively).

5. Dust and Rotate

Give your succulents a little spa moment! Gently wipe their leaves with a soft brush or cloth to keep them clean. And rotate your pots occasionally so they grow evenly toward the light.
